Wine room glass enclosure
Black-framed glass walls and door enclosing a wine room beside a staircase, with lit racks behind the glass.
Custom glass is any piece cut, finished and fitted to your measurements: a tabletop over a dining table, a frameless stair railing, black-framed glass around a wine room, a back-painted backsplash behind the range. APL Glass & Windows cuts and polishes glass at our shop on Garvey Ave in Rosemead and installs it across Los Angeles County, the San Gabriel Valley and Orange County.
Homeowners and designers come to us for tabletops, shelves, railings, pool fencing and wine rooms. Contractors and property managers use us for office partitions, replacement panels and the odd sizes a big supplier will not cut one at a time. Walk-ins are welcome; most clear, frosted and patterned glass is cut while you wait.
Cut-to-size pieces leave the same day when the glass is in stock; railings and wine rooms are installed as soon as the glass is back from tempering. Estimates are free, from photos or on site. We are a family-run, fully insured C-17 glazing contractor (License #1007507) and we work in English, Tiếng Việt and 中文.
Our shop at 7456 Garvey Ave in Rosemead cuts glass for walk-in customers during shop hours. Bring the measurements, a cardboard template, or the old piece, broken or not, and we match thickness, edge and pattern. Common clear, frosted and patterned glass in 1/8-inch, 3/16-inch and 1/4-inch is usually in stock and leaves with you the same day: a cabinet pane, a picture frame, a shelf, a desk cover.
Tempered glass is the exception. Tempering happens after cutting: the piece is cut, polished and drilled to its final shape here, then heated and quenched so it is several times stronger and breaks into small blunt pieces. It cannot be cut or drilled afterward, so every measurement, cutout and hole is confirmed before it goes to the oven, and it takes longer to come back than a plain cut. We give you the pickup date when you order.
Edge work is done in house: flat polish for a square edge, pencil polish for a rounded one, a bevel for a tabletop or mirror, eased corners so nothing is sharp. Bring a sketch of any notches, standoff holes or hardware cutouts and we mark them up at the counter.

A real job from our crew, start to finish.
Text us a photo and the measurements, or a photo of the old piece, and we quote most cut-to-size and tabletop jobs from that.
For railings, wine rooms, backsplashes and partitions we come out and measure after the surrounding work is finished, then confirm glass type, thickness, hardware and finish.
Glass is cut and polished at our Rosemead shop; tempered and laminated pieces go out for tempering and come back ready to install.
We install, or hand you the finished piece at the counter if you are picking up.

On a solid wood or stone top, 1/4-inch tempered is enough and keeps the weight down. A top that spans open air between legs or a pedestal should be 3/8-inch for a small table and 1/2-inch for a dining table, with a polished or beveled edge.
Both are safety glass. Tempered is the usual choice for standoff and base-shoe railings because it is strong and clear. Laminated glass, two layers bonded to an interlayer, stays in place if a layer breaks, which some cities and engineers ask for on a frameless guard with no top rail.
Often, yes. Guards on stairs and balconies and barriers around pools are covered by building code, with minimum heights and safety glass requirements, and many cities want a permit for new work. As a licensed C-17 glazing contractor we tell you up front whether the job needs one and what the glass has to meet.
Yes. Bring in the largest piece you have, or a photo and measurements, and we identify the thickness, edge and pattern. If the original was tempered (look for a small etched stamp in a corner) the replacement must be tempered too and takes longer.
After the countertop, cabinets, outlets and hood are set, because the panel is cut around every box and cannot be trimmed once painted and tempered. Pick the color from a paint chip; we paint the back of low-iron glass so the color reads true without a green cast.
