We are a family-run glass shop in Rosemead, licensed C-17 (#1007507) and fully insured, and about half of our work is commercial. We know the aluminum storefront systems most buildings use, keep common gaskets and door hardware on hand, and schedule around your open hours instead of asking you to close.

Common sizes of tempered and laminated glass are often replaced in 1-2 days. Custom insulated units take longer because they are built to order; while you wait, we board up the opening so the store stays secure. Estimates are free, from photos or on site.

Glass types and door repairs

1/4-inch tempered safety glass

The standard for most single-pane storefronts and for every glass door. Tempered glass is heat-treated to be several times stronger than annealed glass and breaks into small pieces instead of shards. It is tempered to size at the factory, so it is ordered, not cut on site.

Laminated safety glass

Two sheets of glass bonded to a clear interlayer. When it breaks it cracks but stays in the frame, which keeps the store closed up after an impact. A good choice for storefronts that have been hit before.

Insulated glass units

Dual-pane units for storefronts with thermal framing, typically two 1/4-inch lites sealed around an air space. Built to your exact size, they take longer than single-pane glass, so we secure the opening in the meantime.

Aluminum storefront door install

New aluminum storefront doors, single or pair, in clear anodized or dark bronze, with closer, pivots or hinges, lock, push and pull hardware, threshold and sweep, fitted to the existing frame or set in a new one.

Door closers, pivots and hinges

A door that slams, drifts open, drags or will not latch usually needs a closer adjustment or replacement, new offset pivots, or a continuous hinge, often done in one visit.

Locks, sweeps and weatherstrip

Mortise locks, deadlatches and hook bolts replaced; worn bottom sweeps and pile weatherstrip swapped so the door seals and holds the air conditioning in.

Scratched or etched glass

Graffiti etching and deep scratches do not polish out of tempered glass, so the lite is replaced, matched to the thickness and tint of the neighboring lites.

After a break-in or an impact

Call (626) 571-0135 and text a photo of the opening with a rough width and height. If the glass has to be ordered, we board up the opening with plywood cut and fastened to the frame, so the storefront is secure the same day and the door still locks.

We measure the daylight opening and the glazing pocket, check the aluminum for damage and note the glass type. If the frame is bent we tell you before ordering glass; a bent stop is often repairable, but a racked frame has to be reset for the new glass to seat.

You get a written estimate listing the glass, the thickness and the turnaround. For an insurance claim we add photos of the damage and the measurements; you submit the claim and we answer the adjuster’s questions about the scope.

Common sizes of 1/4-inch tempered or laminated glass are often installed in 1-2 days. Custom insulated units and oversized lites take longer because they are built to order, and we give you the expected date when you approve the estimate.

Questions customers ask

Can you fix my storefront door instead of replacing it?

Usually. Most door complaints come down to the closer, the pivots or the lock, and all three can be replaced on the existing door. We recommend a new door when the stile is cracked, the frame is racked, or the door has been forced hard enough to tear the hinge side.

What glass do I need in a storefront door?

Glass in a door, and glass right next to it, counts as a hazardous location under the building code and has to be safety glass: tempered or laminated. Most storefront doors use 1/4-inch tempered, stamped in the corner by the manufacturer.

How long does a custom insulated unit take?

Longer than single-pane glass. Insulated units are built to your exact size by the fabricator, so the lead time depends on the size and the glass type. We give you the expected date with the estimate and board up the opening while you wait.

What drives the price?

Glass type (tempered, laminated or insulated), size, standard or custom, the condition of the frame and gaskets, and access. Door work depends on the hardware: a closer or a lock is a parts-and-labor repair; a new door with a frame is a bigger job.

Will you work around our business hours?

Yes. Tell us when the store is quiet and we schedule around it: before opening, mid-afternoon or after close. Office hours are Monday to Friday 9am-5pm and Saturday 9am-2pm; after-hours service is available, call to confirm.

Do I need a permit to replace storefront glass?

Replacing glass in an existing frame, like for like, normally does not require a permit. Changing the storefront framing, moving a door or altering an exit door can involve the city, and we will tell you if your job does.

We had a good experience with APL replacing panels for our storefronts. Even though there were some hiccups and minor delays, they still finished earlier than my other quotes. The job was done with care and at a reasonable cost, and their team kept in communication.

Mark installed an AutoSlide on my patio door for my dogs (RFID dog tag automatically opens door). The installation was completed on a timely basis. However and through no fault of his own, the manufacturer took over a month to get the tags delivered to him. Without requesting it, Mark gave me a discount to make up for the late delivery. The five star rating is because Mark valued his service to the customer over his profit margin. Thank you Mark!
