Window Glass Repair in Los Angeles & the San Gabriel Valley
A foggy window, a cracked pane or a sash that will not stay up does not mean you need a new window. In most cases the glass, the screen or the hardware can be replaced inside the frame you already have. APL Glass & Windows does this work for homeowners, landlords and property managers across Los Angeles County, the San Gabriel Valley and Orange County.

Dual-pane windows fog because the seal around the insulated glass unit (the two panes and the spacer between them) has failed. Moist air gets in, condenses on the inside surfaces and leaves the haze you cannot wipe off. The fix is a new sealed unit made to the same size and thickness, set into the same frame. The frame, the trim and the stucco stay untouched.
Common sizes are usually replaced in 1-2 days. Estimates are free, on site or from a photo you text us. We are a family-run shop in Rosemead since the 1990s, licensed C-17 #1007507 and fully insured, and we speak English, Tiếng Việt and 中文.
What we fix without replacing the window
How a glass replacement visit works
On the first visit we measure the glass unit, not just the opening: overall thickness, spacer width, whether the glass is tempered (look for the small etched label in a corner), whether it is Low-E or tinted, and how it is held in, whether snap-in vinyl stops, screwed aluminum stops or exterior putty. Those details decide the price more than the size does.
California building code calls for tempered safety glass in and around doors, in any window within 24 inches of a door, in and around tubs and showers, and in large panes close to the floor. If your broken pane is in one of those spots we replace it with tempered glass even if the original was not. Tempered glass cannot be cut after it is made, so it is ordered to size.
Once the new unit arrives we remove the stops, lift out the old glass, clean the channel, set the new unit on fresh setting blocks, re-seal it and refit the stops. The swap itself is quick; most of the wait is the fabrication of the sealed unit. A cracked single pane can often be cut at the shop and installed the same day.

Questions customers ask
Why is there fog between the panes of my window?
The seal around the insulated glass unit has failed, so humid air gets between the panes and condenses. It will not dry out on its own; the fix is a new sealed unit, and the frame stays.
Can you replace just the glass and keep my window frame?
Yes, as long as the frame is sound, which vinyl and aluminum frames almost always are. A new insulated unit made to the same size and thickness goes into the existing frame, which costs less and is far less disruptive than a full replacement.
What does the price depend on?
Size, glass type and how the glass is held in. Tempered, Low-E, laminated and obscure glass cost more than clear annealed glass, and a sealed dual-pane unit costs more than a single pane. Send a photo and rough dimensions and we can quote most jobs without a visit.
How long does window glass replacement take?
Common sizes are usually done in 1-2 days. A cracked single pane can often be cut and installed the same day. Unusual sizes, tempered and Low-E units are made to order and take a little longer; we tell you the lead time when we quote.
Does a broken window need tempered glass?
Only in the locations the building code calls hazardous: doors and sidelights, windows within 24 inches of a door, glass near tubs and showers, and large panes close to the floor. Most bedroom and living room windows higher off the floor can use standard annealed glass.
Will my homeowner’s insurance cover broken window glass?
Often yes when the damage comes from a break-in, a storm or an accident, subject to your deductible. We provide a written estimate and photos for your adjuster, and we work directly with property managers on insurance claims.
