Shower Door Repair in Los Angeles & the San Gabriel Valley

A shower door that drags on the curb, drips at the corner or no longer latches usually needs a part, not a new enclosure. Sweeps and seals harden, hinge screws work loose, rollers crack, and the glass is almost always fine. APL Glass & Windows repairs frameless, semi-frameless and framed shower doors and tub enclosures across Los Angeles County, the San Gabriel Valley and Orange County.

Most calls come from homeowners who have put up with a leaking door for months, and from landlords with a tenant waiting on a fix. Sweeps, seals, rollers and gaskets are stock parts, so many repairs are finished in one visit and common jobs in 1-2 days.

Text us a photo and we quote from it; if that is not enough, the on-site estimate is free. We are a licensed C-17 glazier (#1007507), fully insured, family owned since the 1990s, and we speak English, Tiếng Việt and 中文.

Repairs by symptom

Door drags, sticks or will not close

A frameless door that scrapes the curb or misses the latch has dropped on its hinges or pivots. We re-level it, replace worn gaskets and tighten the wall anchors; a cracked hinge is replaced in a matching finish.

Water leaks onto the floor

A leak at the bottom edge is a worn sweep; at the handle side, a hardened strike seal; at the corners of a framed unit, failed caulk or a clogged weep hole. We fit new seals in the right profile for your glass thickness and reseal the frame.

Cloudy, spotted or etched glass

Hard water leaves deposits that etch into glass over time. Surface buildup can be cleaned and the panel treated with a protective coating; glass etched below the surface cannot be polished back and needs a new tempered panel in the same size and hole pattern.

Loose or broken handle or towel bar

We tighten or replace the handle, renew the gaskets so metal never sits against glass, and match chrome, brushed nickel, matte black or brushed brass. A new handle has to use the existing holes, because tempered glass cannot be drilled.

Broken roller or door off its track

Bypass tub doors and barn-style sliders ride on nylon or steel wheels; when one cracks, the door grinds, tilts or jumps the track. We replace the rollers and bottom guides, re-level the track, and replace a bent track or header if needed.

Cracked or shattered panel

Tempered glass cannot be patched. We measure the opening and hole pattern, order a matching 3/8-inch or 1/2-inch tempered panel and reuse your hinges and handle where sound. If a panel has shattered, we clear the fragments on the first visit.

How a small repair job works

Text or email us three photos: the whole door, the problem area, and a close-up of the hinge, roller or seal, with a rough glass size. From that we can usually identify the hardware, tell you whether it is a repair or a replacement, and price it without a visit.

Sweeps, seals, rollers, gaskets and hinge re-leveling are stock-part jobs; most are finished within 1-2 days, many in a single visit. A replacement panel is the exception: tempered glass is made to your size, so it takes longer than a simple repair; we give you the date when we measure.

Repair makes sense when the glass is intact and the hardware is a standard profile we can match. Replacement makes sense when the glass is etched through, a framed unit has corroded at the corners, or the hardware is obsolete. We tell you plainly which it is; we will not sell you a new enclosure to fix a sweep. Before the visit, clear the shower, dry the glass and keep any broken parts for matching.

How it works

From photo to finished job

  1. 1

Text us a photo of the door and the problem, with a rough glass size, for a free quote, or book a free on-site estimate.

  2. 2

We identify the part (sweep, seal, hinge, roller, handle or panel) and bring the matching profile and finish to the visit.

  3. 3

Most repairs are done in one visit, within 1-2 days of your call; a replacement panel is measured first and installed when it arrives.

  4. 4

We test the door for swing, latch and leaks before we leave.

Questions customers ask

How much does a shower door repair cost?

It depends on the part and the labor. A sweep or seal is the least expensive fix, rollers and handles cost more for the hardware and finish, and a replacement panel costs the most because the tempered glass is made to order. Send photos and we quote before any visit.

My frameless door sags and hits the curb. Can it be fixed without new glass?

Usually, yes. A sagging frameless door has loosened at the hinges or the wall anchors, and we re-level it by adjusting the hinges, replacing the gaskets and resetting the anchors. New glass is only needed if the panel has cracked at the hinge cutouts.

Water leaks out at the bottom of my shower door. Which part do I need?

Almost always the sweep, the clear vinyl strip along the bottom of the door. Sweeps come in different profiles for 3/8-inch and 1/2-inch glass, so send a photo of the edge. If the curb slopes toward the room instead of the drain, a sweep alone will not fix it, and we say so.

Can you get the cloudy hard-water film off my glass?

If the deposits are on the surface, yes: we clean the glass and can add a protective coating so buildup returns more slowly. If the minerals have etched in, which you feel as roughness that does not clean off, the honest answer is a new panel.

Do you repair framed and sliding tub doors, not just frameless?

Yes. Framed and bypass doors are most of our roller, track and bottom-guide work, and we reseal the frame at the corners. If the frame has corroded through, we say so and quote a new tub enclosure instead.

We had a good experience with APL replacing panels for our storefronts. Even though there were some hiccups and minor delays, they still finished earlier than my other quotes. The job was done with care and at a reasonable cost, and their team kept in communication.

Mark installed an AutoSlide on my patio door for my dogs (RFID dog tag automatically opens door). The installation was completed on a timely basis. However and through no fault of his own, the manufacturer took over a month to get the tags delivered to him. Without requesting it, Mark gave me a discount to make up for the late delivery. The five star rating is because Mark valued his service to the customer over his profit margin. Thank you Mark!
