Window Film & Tint in Los Angeles & the San Gabriel Valley
Window film is a thin layer applied to the inside of existing glass that changes what the glass does: blocks the view in, cuts heat and glare, holds broken glass together or adds a frosted pattern. It costs far less than new glass and goes on without touching the frame. APL Glass & Windows installs window film on storefronts, offices and homes across Los Angeles County, the San Gabriel Valley and Orange County.

Business owners call us for storefront tint that keeps the afternoon sun off the merchandise and the staff, frosted film on conference room and office partition glass, and security film on street-facing glass and doors. Homeowners call for west-facing rooms that overheat, bathroom windows that face a neighbor, and front door sidelights that show too much of the entry.
We measure on site or from photos, send a free estimate and install most jobs in 1-2 days. We are a family-run shop in Rosemead since the 1990s, licensed C-17 #1007507 and fully insured, and we speak English, Tiếng Việt and 中文.
Film types and where each one belongs
How film is applied, cured and cleaned
The glass is cleaned and scraped to remove every speck, because anything left under the film shows. The film is cut oversize, sprayed with a slip solution and floated into position on the wet glass. We squeegee from the center out, trim the film to a hairline gap at the frame, and squeegee the edges again. Film goes on the interior side of the glass in nearly every case.
Freshly applied film looks slightly hazy and may show small water pockets. That is moisture working its way out through the film as it cures, and it clears on its own. Cure time depends on the film and the weather: thin tints clear in days in summer, thick security film can take several weeks in cooler months. Do not press on the pockets.
Wait until the film has cured before cleaning it. After that, use a soft cloth or a rubber squeegee with mild soap and water or an ammonia-free glass cleaner. No abrasive pads, scrub sponges or razor blades, which scratch the film’s hard coat.
Film is the right call when the glass is sound and the problem is heat, glare, privacy or security. It is not a fix for a fogged dual-pane unit, a cracked pane or a failed seal; those need new glass, and we do that too.

Questions customers ask
Will privacy film block light as well as the view?
No. Frosted film lets daylight through and only scatters it, so a conference room or bathroom stays bright but nobody can see in. If you want a daytime one-way mirror effect, that is a reflective tint, and it only works while it is brighter outside than in.
Can I see out through heat-reduction tint?
Yes. Most heat-reduction films are a light neutral or bronze shade that looks like slightly darker glass from inside, with a clear view out. Near-clear films exist for homes that want heat rejection with almost no visible change.
Will the film bubble or peel?
Properly applied film on clean glass stays flat and bonded. The small water pockets in the first days or weeks are moisture curing out, and they disappear on their own. Peeling happens at edges that were not sealed or on film cleaned with abrasives.
What does window film cost depend on?
The square footage of glass, the film type (security and dual-reflective films cost more per foot than basic tint or frost) and how hard the glass is to reach. A storefront with large flat panes goes quickly; a house with many small divided panes takes longer.
Is security film a substitute for new laminated glass?
For an existing storefront or ground-floor window in good shape, security film is the faster and cheaper way to make the glass hold together when it breaks. Laminated glass is built that way from the start and is the better option when the glass is being replaced anyway.
Can film be removed later?
Yes. Film is removed with heat and a scraper, and the glass is then cleaned of adhesive. Very old tint takes more work to strip than newer film.
